This Sage Green Duplex Patisserie Café Is Nothing Like Your Average Coffee Shop
If you’re tired of seeing the same generic café interiors — plain wooden tables, boring pendant lights, and walls painted in basic neutral colors — this design project will refresh your idea of what a coffee shop can be.
We created this high-end patisserie café for a dessert brand, building a two-story double-height space that mixes soft sage green, warm champagne gold, and creamy off-white tones. This isn’t just a spot to grab a quick latte. It’s a luxurious, Instagram-worthy destination where people come to stay, relax, and share their experience online.

Space Layout: Open, Airy, And Full Of Visual Surprises
Most local cafes stick to a simple single-floor layout. We went a totally different direction here.
The ground floor holds the main dessert bar and scattered dining seats. A light wood staircase with glass railings leads up to the second level, and the full-height open ceiling makes the entire room feel spacious and grand.
One of our smartest design tricks is the multi-ring mirrored ceiling above the bar area. It reflects every light fixture, green seat, and flower arrangement, making the space look twice as tall as it actually is. It’s a small detail that delivers a huge “wow” effect.
Floor-to-ceiling windows run along the entire right side of the shop. They flood the space with natural daylight and smoothly connect the indoor dining area to the outdoor terrace.

Every Furniture Piece: Picked For Comfort, Style, And Consistency
We didn’t buy random generic furniture for this space. Every chair, table, and sofa was chosen to match the soft, luxurious vibe, and every piece shares the same design language.
Here’s a full breakdown of the furniture inside:
| Furniture Item | Key Design Details | Materials Used |
|---|---|---|
| Curved sage green armchair | Wrap-around rounded backrest, slim tapered legs | Soft velvet upholstery, polished gold metal legs |
| Dark emerald velvet booth | Plush rounded shape, comes with matching throw pillows | Thick velvet fabric, thin gold metal support legs |
| Ribbed cylindrical accent chair | Vertical textured surface, round gold trim at the base | Corduroy-style woven fabric, gold metal base ring |
| Marble top dining table | Available in round and square shapes, thin gold edge around the top | White natural marble surface, white fluted table legs with gold foot caps |
| Outdoor woven dining chair | Lattice woven back, lightweight stackable frame | Weather-resistant green weave, metal frame, matching green seat cushion |
| Outdoor long shared table | Slim minimalist frame, smooth flat tabletop | Matte gray metal frame, water-resistant table surface |
Notice one thing: every single piece has soft, curved edges. There are almost no sharp corners in the whole space. This small design choice makes the entire café feel calm, welcoming, and high-end — not cold or industrial.

The Focal Point: Curved Dessert Bar & Custom Display Cases
The pastry bar is the heart of this café, and we designed it to be both beautiful and highly functional.
This isn’t a straight, boring coffee bar counter. It has a smooth, flowing curved shape that naturally guides customers through the ordering line without crowding.
Bar Counter Design Details
- Countertop: Polished white marble — easy to clean, stain-resistant, and instantly looks premium
- Base cabinet: Vertical fluted panels in soft sage green, with thin champagne gold trim along the bottom edge
- Hidden lighting: Warm LED strip lights run along the bottom of the counter. They cast a soft glow on the floor and make all the desserts look more appealing
- Glass display cases: Clear glass display cases sit on top of the bar, with multiple adjustable shelves for pastries, breads, chocolate treats, and fresh fruit
- Back wall display units: Built-in arched cabinets with gold metal frames and internal lighting. Each section is clearly labeled for different product categories (like chocolate, croissants, and coffee goods). They work as storage, display, and subtle branding all at once
We didn’t plaster a huge logo across the front of the bar. Instead, we wove the brand identity into the arched wall signs and product labels. It feels classy and understated, not loud or salesy.

Lighting & Decor: Small Details That Make A Big Difference
Bad lighting can ruin even the nicest café design. We used three layers of lighting here to set the right mood at any time of day.
- Statement chandeliers: Large leaf-shaped metal chandeliers hang in the double-height entry area. They have tiny built-in lights that look like glowing petals. They’re the number one photo spot for customers.
- Globe pendant lights: Soft white glass globe lights hang above every window-side table. They cast warm, even light that looks great on food and in selfies.
- Accent lighting: Step lights built into the staircase, LED strips under the bar, and backlit wall shelves all add depth and coziness once it gets dark outside.
For decor, we kept it elegant and uncluttered:
- Taupe velvet curtains frame the big windows, softening harsh midday sunlight
- Small white floral arrangements (orchids and hydrangeas) in clear glass vases sit on every single table
- Gold cutout metal decorative sculptures add artistic texture without making the space feel busy
- Open gold metal shelves mounted on the green walls work as both display space and wall decor
What Makes This Café Totally Different From Regular Coffee Shops?
9 out of 10 independent cafes use almost the exact same design formula. This project breaks that pattern in four clear ways:
| Design Area | Typical Ordinary Coffee Shop | This Luxury Patisserie Café |
|---|---|---|
| Space structure | Single flat floor, standard low ceiling | Duplex double-height space + mirrored ceiling trick to visually double the room size |
| Shape language | Mostly straight lines and sharp 90-degree corners | All-curved design language: arched doorways, curved bar, rounded furniture. Soft, premium, and memorable. |
| Material variety | Usually only 2-3 simple materials (wood, paint, basic tile) | Layered, rich materials: velvet, marble, brushed gold metal, mirror, solid wood, and ribbed panels. Lots of texture without feeling messy. |
| Customer experience | Built for quick ordering and fast turnover | Built for multi-scene use: quiet indoor seats, window-side photo spots, and a full outdoor terrace. Designed for long stays and social media sharing. |
Outdoor Terrace: Not An Afterthought — A Full Extension Of The Brand
A lot of cafes tack on a few cheap chairs outside and call it a patio. We built this terrace as a full, matching part of the café experience.
The terrace has matching green woven chairs, long shared tables for groups, and large white shade umbrellas for sunny days. Oversized gold planters with leafy green trees line the space, and low hedge borders give every table a sense of privacy.
It’s perfect for weekend brunch, group meetups, or anyone who wants to enjoy fresh air with their coffee and dessert.
